BEST (Better Emotional / Social Times) Social Skills Program
Eligibility Criteria: Children 8-12 years of age with a diagnosed learning disability or ADHD
Description: Social skills training builds effective communication techniques for everyday situations using role-playing, games, videos, and positive reinforcement. The training will focus on direct instruction to assist participants with strategies to successfully interact at home and at school. BEST will now be offered as three separate programs with different areas of focus as outlined below.
Program Fee: $150 for non-LDA members or $100.00 for LDA members per 7-week session. Subsidies may be available.
BEST: Foundational Skills covers group behaviour; listening; following instructions; understanding body language; sportsmanship; and accepting consequences / saying sorry.

BEST: Dealing with Emotions covers self talk; self-control; responding to failure; bullying; self-advocacy; and teasing / peer pressure.

BEST: Friendship covers having a conversation; joining in; boundaries; teasing; being interesting; and cyber bullying.

ABC 123 Tutoring Program
Eligibility Criteria: Children 8-14 years of age with a diagnosed learning disability or ADHD
Locations: This program is offered in both Windsor and Essex
Description: Tutoring will focus on basic reading, writing, and math skills. The Laubach Way to Reading and JUMP Math tutoring methods are used in a small group setting. Many of the concepts taught will be reinforced with games and hands-on activities, with many incentives being provided to promote participation.
Program Fee: $150 for non-LDA members or $100 for LDA members per 8-week session. Subsidies may be available.

Summer Enrichment Camp
Eligibility Criteria: Children entering into grades 3-6 with a diagnosed learning disability or ADHD
Locations: This program is offered in East Windsor, South Windsor, and Essex
Description: This fun and interactive summer camp will provide enrichment in the following areas: literacy and math; computer keyboarding and basic office software; iPad and Chromebook apps; online research and cyber bullying; adaptive technology software and apps; social skills; and recreation activities.
Each camp is 1-week long and will have a different theme.

Families can chose which week to have their child(ren) attend. Child(ren) can be registered for as many of the 5 weeks, as desired. Lunch will NOT be provided; participants must bring their own lunch.
Program Fee: $25 / week for WECDSB & GECDSB students and $125 / week for all other students

LEGO-Based Social Skills
Eligibility Criteria: Children 8-12 years old with a diagnosed learning disability or ADHD
Description: LEGO-Based Social Skills is a collaborative play group in which children work together to build LEGO models. Children practice key skills of collaboration, joint attention, fair division of labour, sharing, turn taking, eye contact, gaze-following, verbal and nonverbal communication. LEGO-Based Social Skills provides the opportunity for social communication, social support, social problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
